Why Timing is everything when saying an affirmation

The human brain is a complex marvel, shifting through five different brain wave modes as it ages and experiences the rhythm of the day.

  1. Delta (Subconscious): This mode kicks in during deep sleep or when you’re an infant (0-1.5 years old).
  2. Theta (Subconscious): When you’re falling asleep, just after waking up, in deep meditation, or during early childhood (1.5-6 years old), your brain operates in this state.
  3. Alpha (Conscious): When you’re in a relaxed state, eyes closed, or meditating, typically during ages 6-12, your brain waves align with alpha mode.
  4. Beta (Conscious): This is your standard operational mode when you’re awake, which you’ve been using since around age 12.
  5. Gamma (Transcendental): This rare brain wave state occurs when your mind and heart are in perfect harmony.

So, why is understanding these brain wave modes important?

It all boils down to how effectively you can impact your subconscious mind with your thoughts and affirmations.

In the world of personal development, you may have come across “affirmations.” These are positive statements crafted in the present tense, designed to shape your behavior and outcomes. They’re beneficial, but their effectiveness depends on when and how you use them.

Typically, affirmations are practiced in a conscious state, usually during your active hours in beta mode. However, at this time, your subconscious isn’t as accessible. It’s like trying to break a wall with your head – painful, ineffective, and discouraging.

Enter the game-changer: the theta state.

During theta, which occurs as you’re falling asleep or waking up, your subconscious mind becomes a wide-open door. This is the ideal time to introduce affirmations or mantras. When you’re drifting into sleep, your mind often lingers on unresolved worries, which can influence your sleep quality and daytime experiences.

Imagine having a simple affirmation, one sentence, that you repeat as you’re on the cusp of sleep. This can reshape your reality in profound ways.

Personally, I’ve been using the mantra “my life is getting better and better” for a few months now. Every night, as I’m drifting off to sleep, this affirmation feels natural. The results have been astonishing. The outcomes I’ve been generating in my life truly reflect this affirmation – things are genuinely improving.

However, one crucial component is trust. Trusting that whatever happens is ultimately for the best, as you’ve had a hand in creating or uncreating it. And what lies ahead could be even more amazing.

Embrace the unknown with trust and positivity.

Remember, you possess an incredible power within you!
